Dustin Poirier defeated Conor McGregor on Saturday night at a sold-out arena in Las Vegas via doctor stoppage after the former dual weight champion broke his left leg with seconds remaining in the first round at UFC 264 main event.
The intense battle between McGregor and Poirier had to be stopped as the Irishman was not able to continue after he stumbled backwards, trapping his foot under himself and breaking his left leg.

After McGregor's defeat, his arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov tweeted "good had prevailed over evil" and later in an interview pointed out that "will of God did not allow McGregor to thrive in that moment".
“(There’s) always (going to) be there something superior – more powerful – than we have,” Nurmagomedov told MMA Junkie on Monday.
“Sometimes when people become, ‘I’m this, I can do this. I’m smart because I’m strong.’ God always going to make you humble. I saw yesterday or two days ago, I saw his coach’s interview like, ‘I don’t understand how this happened. He’s a strong young, strong man and he broke his foot, I don’t understand.’ Everything from God. You have to become humble. When you become rich, when you become strong, when you become famous and then you think this is because of myself? God going to make you humble.”

Meanwhile, Conor Mcgregor, in a video posted on social media, said that he was feeling 'tremendous' after his surgery. The seriousness of Mcgregor's injury and defeat against Poirier has raised questions and doubts on his future in the sport.
"Just out of the surgery room, everything went to plan, everything went perfect and I'm feeling tremendous. We've got six weeks on a crutch now and then we begin to build back," McGregor said in a video.
