Paris Saint-Germain's talismanic forward Lionel Messi's sensational 95th-minute free kick helped his side beat Lille in a 7-goal thriller  at the Parc des Princes, Paris on Sunday. When the match was tied at 3-3 and it was the dying stages of the fixture, it was the star Argentine who stepped up for his club and netted a goal through a free kick.

The match went one way and another and witnessed each of the famed trio of Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr scoring at least a goal with the Frenchman netting a brace. Neymar, however, even had to stretchered off midway through the match with doubts over his availability for the reverse fixture.

While the Parisians had gone up 2-0, Lille came back from behind to take a 3-2 lead before Mbapp's late equaliser. In the end, it needed a bit of a Messi magic for PSG to clinch all the three points.

The strike was Messi's 11th goal in Ligue 1 and one that helped the side register a dramatic win, more so because of the manner in which they had lost their UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich before heading into this match.

The win has helped PSG (57 points) strengthen their lead at the top of the table over second-placed Monaco (50). Marseille are not far behind either and are just 1 point behind Monaco and will take on PSG in what promises to be a mouth-watering contest at the Stade Vélodrome next Sunday.

Bafodé Diakité, Jonathan David and Jonathan Bamba scored a goal each for Lille but it wasn't enough for them to walk away with a point from this fixture. Lille, are currently placed sixth, with 41 points from 24 matches and will play face Stade Brestois in their next match.
