In not the best of advertisements for sportsman spirit, an ugly brawl unfolded in the middle of UEFA Europa League Round Of 32 fixture at the Old Trafford on Friday. Even though it was the home team Manchester United who secured a 2-1 win in this leg and secured a place for themselves in the next round with a 4-3 result over Barcelona on aggregate, there were several tensed moments in the match.
However, the fight between the players happened not much after the hour mark when United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka was guilty of a foul from Frenkie de Jong. While the Netherland International star was already on the ground after the foul from the Red Devils' player, United star Bruno Fernandes' gesture added salt to the wound as he smashed a ball at him which led to the tussle among the players.
In a video which has gone viral on social media, multiple players both from the Spanish as well as the Premier League club were seen pushing each other.
Here is the clip:
Talking about the match, it wasn't that easy a win for the English side. In fact, they were trailing in the first half of the game, thanks to a goal from the spot from Barca's talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski in the 7th minute of the match. However, United found a way to get back into the match and eventually emerged as the victors.
They found an equaliser from Fred in the 47th minute of the match before Antony's 73rd minute strike proved to be the difference between the sides on the day.
United will now play Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final on Sunday while Barcelona's next assignment would be their home league match against UD Almería on the same day.
