MLS Match Interrupted By Racoon: While it is not that rare to witness on-field live sporting actions getting interrupted, not many will be able to recall a football match interrupted by a racoon. Yet that is what precisely happened in the 21st minute of a Major League Soccer (MLS) match at the Subaru Park as New York City FC (NYCFC) took on Philadelphia Union.
The animal reportedly spent under three minutes on the pitch with an MLS communication handle on X (formerly Twitter) wittingly calling it the most minutes spent on the field by a racoon in MLS history. The mammal which is native to North America even managed to evade several members who tried to get to get the invader off the playing area before eventually the play could finally resume.
