Miura Kazuyoshi Becomes Oldest-Ever Footballer To Play In Portugal At 56, Video Surfaces

Breaking the norm of retirement from professional football in 30s big time, Miura Kazuyoshi's marathon career continues to stun fans. In a recent development, the Japanese star has shattered yet another record when he made his debut for Portuguese second division club Oliveirense in their 4-1 away win to Academico de Viseu on Saturday (22 April).
The former Asian Player of the Year came in as a substitute and was on the pitch only for a few minutes before the final whistle but even his presence on the pitch made sure "King Kazu" broke a record. As per Liga Portugal, Mirua now owns the distinction of becoming the oldest player ever to play in the country at 56 years, one month and 24 days.
After the match, Miura did take to social media to react and posted just one word "History."

The former Japanese International has represented as many as several countries prior to being roped in by Oliveirense. He has played league games in Brazil, Italy, Croatia and Australia among others. He is currently on loan in Oliveirense from his a club of his home nation.
In what comes as a remarkable start, Miura had started his professional career way back in 1986 with the Brazilian side Santos which makes this the fifth decade of his professional career. The goal which he scored against Thespakusatsu Gunma aged 50 years and 14 days had made him the oldest goalscorer in Japanese professional league.
