Premier League 2023/24: Manchester City beat West Ham United 3-1 to become the first side in English football history to win 4th successive top flight title. With the win, the club has now managed to win 6 of the past 7 Premier League titles. Pep Guardiola, ever since he took over the reigns of Manchester City in 2016, has only failed to win the league title in 2016/17 and 2019/20 seasons, and the Spaniard is truly on course of becoming arguably the most dominant manager in the Premier League history.
Manchester City are now 8-time Premier League champions ever since the top division was rebranded into Premier League in 1992, and are just behind Manchester United in the number of titles.
"It's Our Period" - Pep Guardiola After Winning His 6th Premier League Title
Pep Guardiola has labelled his side's dominance as their "period" and the Spaniard hails the impact of Arsenal in his side's quest for league title.
"It was nice. Of course the first words are for Arsenal and Liverpool as well but especially Arsenal to bring us, to push another level. Before it was Liverpool who pushed us to our limits. Now it's been [Arsenal] in these last two seasons, especially this one. It's been an incredible season. We get the message, so I know will be there for many years. Young manager, big talent and a young squad, a young team - they sent us a message we have to be careful for the next years," said Guardiola, in an interview with Sky Sports.
"Today is the day to celebrate it. If people me, 'In the next seven years you are going to win six Premier Leagues,' I will say, 'You are insane, it's not going to happen.' It happened. The Eighties belonged to Liverpool, with all the managers, and Graeme Souness, Ian Rush, all these players. Nineties was Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, [Paul] Scholes, Roy Keane. Of course, [Jose] Mourinho with Chelsea, and some others. Now it's our period," he added.
