Football's global superstar Lionel Messi, who has been in the news lately for his move out of European football with his new contract with the Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami, gave his fans a surprise when he made his acting debut on the Argentine TV series Los Protectores. It is learnt that the 36-year-old had been invited for a cameo role on the show which revolves around three football agents who are trying to stop themselves from running into a state of bankruptcy. While fans were surprised to see him on the show, it is being reported that his co-actors were also pleasantly surprised with the way he essayed his part.

Messi makes an appearance in the first episode of the show's second season. The legendary footballer plays himself as the agents paid him a visit in Paris. They even present a youth player venture. While initially during the course of the conversation, Messi seems pretty enthusiastic, it all disappears as agents continuously bother him with requests for photos and pitches for business plans.

"It seems to me that you are misplaced. They did not tell me this. They said that they were going to tell me about a different project," Messi says in the end of the episode, as quoted by Goal.com.

Andres Parra, who plays one of the agents on the show, heaped praises on Messi for his acting talent. He was quoted as saying  that he was surprised to see the legend of the sport being able to deliver a good performance in front of the camera itself.

"It has really surprised us all, not only his human quality, but also his acting," Parra said.

On the football front, Messi will be joining Inter Miami in July. He had already indicated that he would not be signing a contract extension with PSG and despite an offer from FC Barcelona to get back to playing with them, Messi has chosen the American side.
