Cristinao Ronaldo's Saudi club Al-Nassr has sacked its head coach Rudi Garcia following the team's goallss draw against Al Feiha in the ongoing season of the Saudi Pro League. The draw meant Al-Nasse remain second in the points table three points behind Al Ittihard with seven matches remaining in the season.
It is pertinent to note that Garcia was announced as the head coach of the team in June last year and had a two-year deal with the club.
“Al Nassr can announce that head coach Rudi Garcia has left the club by mutual agreement,” a statement on the club's English language Twitter feed read.
“The board and everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past eight months,” it added.
In its attempt to win trophies, the club had made a blockbuster signing of Ronaldo on a three-year deal. Even though he has been in decent goal-scoring form, he couldn't find the back of the net in this game and was spotted leaving the pitch in anger after the final whistle.
"The result is definitely bad and we are not happy,” Garcia had told the Saudi Sports Company (SSC) through a translator.
“I don’t feel satisfied with the players’ performance. I asked them to play at the same level as the last game (in the 5-0 victory against Al-Adalah), but this didn’t happen,” he added.
Interestingly, Al-Nassr had last bagged the league title in 2019. Their game against Al-Hilal who are the reigning champions and are currently number 4 on the standings will be a very crucial fixture and one that could be decisive in deciding who will come out on top in the Saudi league this season.
“Pleasure to have worked with you. Wishing you all the best for the future,” Ronaldo posted a photo of himself and Garcia with this caption.
