FIFA World Cup 2022 Final | Argentina vs France: Several videos and pictures have gone viral on social media in which some die-hard football fans can be seen performing 'yagnas' in the iconic city of Kolkata, ahead of the high-octane FIFA World Cup 2022 final match between France and Argentina at Lusail Stadium, Qatar. In one of the viral videos, a fan can be seen performing a yagna for Argentina, most likely praying for his favorite footballer Lionel Messi so that he clinches the coveted trophy on Sunday in his last ever FIFA World Cup.

In another incident, a fan performed a yagna on the street to a big Lionel Messi hoarding, decorated with balloons. For the unversed, the mouth-watering clash between two-time winners France and Lionel Messi-led Argentina will start at 8:30 p.m. IST.

Argentina and France have clashed in the World Cup three times before. Argentina, the South American team, has won two matches, while France has won one match. In the first World Cup, which took place in Uruguay, 92 years ago, Argentina had clashed against France in the group stage. Monty Lewis had scored a goal for Argentina in that match to help them finish 1-0 against France. Notably, Monty Lewis is also the only person who has played in the World Cup final for two teams. After playing for Argentina in 1930, he played the World Cup final for Italy in 1934.

In the 1978 FIFA World Cup, Argentina and France were in the same group and in their match back then, Argentina defeated France 2-1. Both teams also locked horns in the previous edition of FIFA World Cup in Russia, in 2018, which France won 4-3.
