The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) has asked FIFA to block the Brazilian players from playing in the Premier League from 10-14 September due to them not reporting for international duty. FIFA has invoked Article 5 to enforce the restriction period of September 10-14, which would mean the involved players will miss out on the weekend's Premier League football and also the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Brazilian FA raised questions on PL clubs for not allowing the Brazilian players to play against Chile, Argentina, and Peru. Liverpool's Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, Manchester City's Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Fred from Manchester United, Raphinha from Leeds and Thiago Silva from Chelsea missed the World Cup qualifiers against Chile, Argentina, and Peru.

All the players will be missing out on their Premier League matches that are happening this weekend. Fred and Thiago Silva will also mean the Champions League games against Young Boys and Zenit St. Petersburg respectively. The other said players will be taking part in their respective Champions League matches as they will play after 14 September when the ban is lifted.

Richarlison also missed the internationa matches, but he is not banned from playing as he helped Brazil secure a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The Brazill vs Argentina CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers had to be called off mid-way. Health officials from the Brazilian government intervened and stopped the match as four players had not complied with the Covid-19 guidelines, they had lied to the immigration officers about returning from England.
