Lury Gazinsky became a part of history as he scored first goal of the FIFA World Cup 2018, in front of his crowd in the 12th minute of the tournament opener against Asian giants Saudi Arabia.

It was one of the many defensive lapses from Saudi Arabia on the opening night of the World Cup at the Lizhniki Stadium in Moscow. Gazinsky was unmarked inside the box when Aleksandr Golovin curled in a cross. All he had to do was head it wide from the Saudi goal-keeper Al-Mayoof and he did that to perfection, much to the delight of the capacity 80 thousand crowd.

This was also the mid-fielders maiden international goal that provided the perfect start to the World Cup campaign of hosts Russia.
