New Delhi: Ahead of the two-match Test series between India and New Zealand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received flak from fans on social media after a circular detailing on players' diet chart went viral.

As per the viral circular on social media platforms, it claimed that BCCI made it compulsory for Team India players to only consume 'halal meat' and avoid eating beef or pork.

Ever since the circular went viral on social media platforms, fans started targeting BCCI on social media. Even #BCCIpromoteshalal has been trending on Twitter since morning.

Meanwhile, a senior BCCI official told ABP News: "No such circular has been issued by the board. Consuming vegetarian or non-vegetarian food, or halal or non-halal meat is completely a player's own choice. The board has never issued any instructions on this."
