PV Sindhu Wins RO16 Fixture: PV Sindhu completes a sensational comeback win against world number 7 Han Yue of China in her Round of 16, as the Indian shuttler now progresses into te quarter-finals.


After trailing in the Game 1 21-18, PV Sindhu gave no chance to the Chinese shuttler and managed to win remaining two rounds 21-12; 21-16 to complete the comeback.






The two-time Olympic medallist will now take on Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia in her quarter-final fixture, which is set to take place on Friday, October 18, at 03:30 PM (as per Indian Standard Time).


The Indian contingent at Denmark Open Super 750 have so far disappointed and PV Sindhu now remains the lone Indian shuttler alive in the tournament.


Can PV Sindhu Shrug Aside Her Ordinary Form With Title Triumph?


PV Sindhu has been constantly struggling with injuries since last year, and this has heavily impacted her performances in 2024. For the first time in her career, the Indian shuttler managed to miss out on an Olympic medal. Her previous appearancs (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020) helped her win the Silver medal and Bronze medal respectively.


PV Sindhu's latest win is her first instance in several months of attaining a win against a Top 10 ranked player of the world, with her last-such result coming back in May, against the very same opponent at the Malaysia Masters final.


In a match that lasted more than an hour, the 18th ranked Indian prevailed out as the winner and now extends her Head-to-Head record against the Chinese to 7-1.


PV Sindhu was not able to overpower her Chinese opponent, and ended up losing the first game. A change of strategy helped the former World number 1, as her gameplan forced Han Yue to make unforced errors, which led her to give free points and untimately, losing Game 2 by the scoreline of 21-12.
