Gold Coast [Australia], April 14 (ANI): Indian boxer Gaurav Solanki picked a gold while Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik settled for a silver each in their respective boxing categories at the ongoing 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games here on Saturday.

Solanki claimed a split 4-1 verdict on points over Northern Ireland's Brendan Irvine in the finals of men's flyweight (52-kilogram) category at Oxenford Studios.

Solanki won the bout with decisions of 29-28, 30-25, 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 from the five judges to become the first Indian male boxer to bag the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Amit and Manish, the other Indians in the fray, finished with the silver medal in the men's light flyweight (49-kilogram) category and men's 60kg category respectively.

While Amit slumped to 1-3 defeat at the hands of England's Galai Yafai in the final, Manish narrowly missed out on gold after the judges award the match to Australia's Harry Garside 3-2.

With these three medals, India now stand with a total of 47 medals, comprising of including 20 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze. (ANI)
