Manchester United have learnt to have made a contact with French great, Zinedine Zidane to be the manager of the club on the recommendation of Cristiano Ronaldo, Spanish media, El Chiringuito TV reported. Zinedine Zidane, the former manager of Real Madrid was the top runner to get the United job last summer as well.

The series of bad performances by Manchester United in recent matches might have triggered this development. Man Utd lost 4-2 against Leicester City in the Premier League.

Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda told El Chiringuito TV that United have already reached out to Zidane to discuss replacing Solskjaer. “Zidane can have the teams he wants. It is an option that has occurred in the national team stoppage," told Inda as quoted by Express UK.

“I already said that PSG had approached him, they have always wanted him," Inda added.

"Newcastle also wanted him, but in the national team break, he had a call from Manchester United to replace Solskjaer. The person who would sponsor him and who has recommended him to the board is Cristiano Ronaldo," Inda said.

Manchester United had a great start to the Premier League season but slowly, the team descended into losing and drawing a lot of matches, including a Champions League match against Young Boys. The mid-field seems to be an issue for Solskjaer to manage. United have a strong forward line-up, but they are lacking in their mid-field formation.

Zidane has experience of working with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane at Real Madrid when he won three Champion League trophies on a trot.
