Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan remains a topic of discussion these days. Younis Khan has resigned as Pakistan's batting coach due to a dispute with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Younis Khan has also mentioned his old agony along with this. Former captain Younis Khan claimed that senior players like Shahid Afridi had revolted against him in 2009 as they harbored captaincy ambitions.

Khan said that the rebellion was not due to his captaincy style or attitude. Younis Khan said, "If the players had problems with me, they could have spoken to me. They claimed that they did not want to remove me from the captaincy. But they want the cricket board to talk to me and want me to change my attitude."

Younis Khan is the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket. Younis Khan says that Afridi did not want to see him as a captain. The veteran batsman said, "Then how did it happen that when the players met the then PCB chairman Ejaz Butt, Afridi demanded the captain be changed. I believe this rebellion was related to his ambition of captaincy."

Pakistan became the world champion under the captaincy of Younis.

Under the captaincy of Younis Khan, the Pakistani team was successful in winning the 2009 T20 World Cup. But Younis had to relinquish the captaincy at the end of 2009. After this, Misbah-ul-Haq was made the captain of the Test and Afridi was made the captain of the limited overs team.

Younis Khan recently broke his silence on the controversy with Hasan Ali. Younis Khan said that he did not resign from the post of batting coach because of his dispute with Hasan Ali. Younis Khan, however, did not disclose the real reason for leaving the post.
