The defeat has dented New Zealand's chances of making into the WTC 2025 Final, as theyir PCT has now gone down to 50.00 in 12 matches.

South Africa's win over Sri Lanka now means that they remain clear of New Zealand and Australia in the second spot, and will be needing a huge favour from both, India and Australia, inorder to qualify for the final.

"Yeah, you are right. I guess in the position we were, we were happy with that. If the catches go to hand, it would have been a different result. The partnerships we were able to build on the first day were great... We had our moments. Things could have been slightly different but a quality team like England put you under pressure. Somedays, it just doesn't quite go your way. We don't mean to drop catches. Hope we do better next time around," said Tom Latham, New Zealand Captain.

"For everyone it's about trying to contribute as best they can... I'm no different. We're working hard to produce runs and wickets. That won't change over the next couple of days. Guys will be working hard, and we will look to bounce back in Wellington. From our point of view, we wanted to get the win in Hagley. But we want to come out and put a better performance in Wellington," he added.
