India's iconic cricketer Virat Kohli achieved a remarkable milestone by equalling Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record for One Day International (ODI) centuries on November 5. Kohli secured his 49th ODI century during a match in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 against South Africa. This achievement created a significant buzz in the cricketing world, with reactions pouring in from around the globe.

Even Sachin Tendulkar himself took to social media to extend his congratulations to Virat on this remarkable feat. Interestingly, a video from 2012 has resurfaced on social media, revealing how Tendulkar had predicted Kohli's potential to break his records.

In the video, Bollywood star Salman Khan asked Tendulkar if he thought any player could break his records. Tendulkar responded by saying,  "I think those who can, are sitting in this room only. I can see those youngsters. Virat and Rohit are the ones. As long as an Indian breaks it, I don't mind."

Tendulkar had also mentioned India's skipper, Rohit Sharma, as a potential record-breaker. However, Rohit, while achieving numerous records, hasn't come close to Kohli and Tendulkar in terms of the number of centuries.

Tendulkar has always maintained that his 49 ODI centuries are not just his but belong to India, expressing his willingness to see the record surpassed as long as it stays within the Indian team. He once stated, "The 49 ODI hundreds record is not my record, it's India's record. As long as it stays with India, I am happy.”

Shifting focus to India's campaign in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, they have been in exceptional form, winning all eight of their matches in the tournament and claiming the top position in the points table. They were the first team to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2023. Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been leading the batting charts for India, with valuable contributions from the rest of the team. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have been among the top wicket-takers in the prestigious tournament.

India's final league stage match is scheduled for November 12 at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they will face the Netherlands.
