Even though Shikhar Dhawan may have missed out on a berth in India's squad for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, he is keeping his spirits high or so it seems from his latest social media post. Watching Pakistan's warm-up fixture against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Dhawan couldn't hold himself back when he watched a comedy of errors by the Pakistani fielders. He took to social media to share a clip of the incident with a hilarious caption.
Notably, the video of the incident that Dhawan shared wasn't just a one-off fielding error in the warm-up match. During the warm-up contest, there were several such incidents that happened which has once again put the spotlight back on Pakistan's fielding lapses. The one that Dhawan highlighted happened in the 23rd over of Australia's innings when Haris Rauf delivered a delivery which was a short of a length. While Marnus Labuschagne played it towards the square leg region, there was a misunderstanding between Pakistan's fielders Mohammed Wasim Jr. and Mohammad Nawaz and the ball ended up crossing the boundary.
Take a look at Dhawan's post here:
After their final warm-up match against Australia, Pakistan will gear up to begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands at the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 on October 6. Australia, meanwhile, will meet India in their World Cup opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai which will also be India's first match.
The tournament is set to get underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in a repeat of the 2019 finals with defending champions England taking on runners-up New Zealand on October 5. Each team is set to meet every other side once in the round-robin stage after which the top four teams will proceed to the semifinals.
