India’s talented opener Shubman Gill looked in solid touch during the ongoing World Cup clash against Bangladesh on Thursday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. During the seventh over of the second innings, Gill found a new fan in the form of Sara Tendulkar, who is the daughter of the great Sachin Tendulkar. Chasing a total of 257 runs, Indian openers started off well with skipper Rohit Sharma scoring most of the runs. But then in the seventh over bowled by Hasan Mahmud, Gill smashed a boundary.

Gill is taking part in his second game of the ongoing mega event as he missed out on playing a few initial games for India because he was down with dengue.  He got a good start in the game against Pakistan but he failed to make it big. In the ongoing game against the Bangla Tigers, Gill recorded a boundary against Hasan on the second ball. Soon after the four was hit, the camera caught Sara chanting for Gill at the stadium. Even though Gill managed to survive a dismissal, Sara was seen celebrating.

Shubman is considered as the next big thing in Indian cricket after Virat Kohli. He has collected five centuries in ODIs in 2023 alone, including a double hundred that came against New Zealand earlier this year.

Talking about the game, the Men In Blue made a remarkable comeback in the game after the solid start the Bangladesh team got. Bangladesh openers provided their team with a stellar start as they added 63 runs for no wickets in the first 10 overs. Rohit Sharma led team India however staged a terrific comeback and ended up restricting the Bangladesh team to just 256-8 in 50 overs. Bumrah, Siraj, and Jadeja bagged 2 wickets each.
