Former Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Sunday congratulated the Indian cricket team for its clinical win over Pakistan in the high-octane ICC World Cup 2019 clash at Old Trafford in Manchester. However, 'Boom Boom' Afridi extended his congratulations to the Indian team on Twitter much before the match got officially over.

Kohli-led India extended their winning streak against arch-rivals Pakistan to seven games after registering an emphatic win on Sunday.

Afridi showered praises on the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for grooming the youngsters to play in high-pressure situations in major ICC tournaments.

Afridi added that the standard of cricket played by India is exceptionally high as he lauded the effort by the Men in Blue to win the game against Pakistan.

In Sunday's high voltage clash between the sub continent rivals India and Pakistan, the Indians batted first and posted a target of mammoth 337-run target in 50 overs courtesy a splendid ton by Rohit Sharma and half-centuries by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

Chasing 337, Pakistan could never quite keep pace as they lost wickets on a regular intervals and the rain gods played a part as the target was revised to 302 with only five overs remaining.
