India will lock horns with New Zealand in the first semi-final clash of the ICC World Cup 2019 on Tuesday. Both the 'Men in Blue' and Kiwis sound confident of their chances of winning the knockout encounter ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

Given the way the tournament has paned out, India appear to have the edge over the Black Caps owing to being more consistent in their performances at the round robin stage.

However, one factor which could be a major stumbling block in a blockbuster semis clash at Old Trafford is rain, which has played spoilsport in quite a few matches in the tournament so far.

As per the weather forecast, there are predictions of showers in Manchester on Tuesday which could come in way of the match proceedings and dampen the spirits of the fans.

In case of a scenario where the match is washed out, there is a reserve day in the offering. However, the forecast does not seem to be too bright for Wednesday.

What if the match is washed out on the Reserve Day too

If the match is washed out on the reserve day too then India will progress through to the finals as they finished as the number one ranked team in the round robin stages with 15 points while New Zealand scraped through with 11 points and were placed at number 4 on the points table.

It is notable that the league stage match between the two sides was also abandoned due to rain. However, the two semifinalist clashed in a warm-up match before the main tournament where the New Zealand pacers ran through the Indian batting order to inflict Kohli and Co a thumping defeat.
