During his breezy knock of 96 against Bangladesh, Babar Azam became the leading run scorer for Pakistan in a single edition of the World Cup. Azam achieved the record when he was batting at 60 during his 96-run knock.
Azam eclipsed Pakistan great Javed Miandad's record of 437 runs which he had scored in the 1992 edition of the World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Miandad's heroics with the bat helped Pakistan lift their maiden World Cup title.
Earlier in the tournament, Babar became the fastest Asian cricketer to reach the 3,000 runs in ODIs. He was even quicker than Virat Kohli to reach the milestone.
Pakistan has been a key contributor with the bat during the ongoing ICC World Cup amassing 474 runs in 8 World Cup games with one ton and three half-centuries.
