India Outclass Bangladesh To Clinch Women's Emerging Asia Cup 2023

Team India, batting first after winning the toss, posted a competitive total of 127 runs after losing 7 wickets, after which Shreyanka Patil (4 wickets for 13) and Mannat Kashyap (3 wickets for 20) spun a web around Bangladesh to bundle out them for mere 96 in 19.2 overs. Off-break bowler Kanika Ahuja (2/23) also chipped in with two wickets. 

Bangladeshi batters looked clueless in front of India's spin trio of Shreyanka, Mannat and Kanika. Nahida Akhtar top-scored for Bangladesh with an unbeaten 17 while Shobhana Mostari scored 16 runs. No Bangladeshi batter was able to score even 20 runs individually. Batting first, Dinesh Vrinda top-scored for India with 36 off 29 balls while Kanika contributed with an unbeaten 30 off 23 balls. Bangladesh bowlers kept the pressure on the Indian batsmen by taking wickets at regular intervals.

Apart from Vrinda and Kanika, only wicket-keeper Chetry (22) and captain Shweta Sehrawat (13) could score in double figures. For Bangladesh, left-arm spinner Nahida took two wickets for 13 runs while off-spinner Sultana Khatoon took two wickets for 30 runs. India had qualified for the summit clash on Tuesday (June 20) after their semi-final match against Sri Lanka was washed out without a ball being bowled. In fact, as many as eight games throughout the tournament were washed out due to rain.
