Women's Asia Cup 2024: Thailand Women defeated Malaysia Women by 22 runs in Match 3 of Women's Asia Cup 2024, as the Thipatcha Putthawong-led side scripted an epic comeback victory out of the jaws of defeat. There will be much agony for Winnifred Duraisingam, as her side was completely in contention of winning the match, but choked the run chase in the last 10 overs, and now start their campaign with a loss.

For her tremendous composure and resilient knock of 40 off 35, Thailand Women's Nannapat Koncharoenkai was awarded the Player of the match.

"I am really happy. First game of the tournament is always exciting. That's why you saw we didn't get any wickets in the first half. But we came back well in the second half. We did miss her but we have many batters here. We have been practicing for situations like these and were well prepared for a situation like this," said Koncharoenkai.

Here's What The Captains Said During Post Match Presentation Ceremony

Winnifred Duraisingam (Malaysia Women Captain):

"It's a bit disappointing as we started well but our middle order collapsed. After Hunter's wicket we lost the plot and none of the other batters could put up a fight. We were confident at the halfway mark and hoped that we could chase it down. We will look to bounce back stronger in the next two games."

Thipatcha Putthawong (Thailand Women Captain):

"Initially I was anxious because the team is quite young. The experienced players are missing due to injuries but those that we have here stepped up. Didn't have to say anything to the team, we made a few mistakes in the first half but fought back well. Really enjoyed captaining the side."
