Women's Asia Cup 2024 Final: The cricketing world is stunned tonight, as today marks a day of revolution in Sri Lanka Women's cricket, as they create history by winning their first-ever Women's Asia Cup. They do so by beating reigning champions and record-champions, India Women, in a convincing manner, as they thumped the side by 8 wickets in the final.

With the win, Sri Lanka Women now becomes the third different winner in history of the tournament, as they now join the likes of India Women and Bangladesh Women (in 2018).

India Women have lost against Sri Lanka Women for the first time in the history of the tournament, and with that, they suffer only their second-ever defeat in the final of Women's Asia Cup (as the side have always qualified for the final of the tournament in all the previous 9 editions).

It was an interesting and a bold call from Harmanpreet Kaur to bat first, as the India Women captain won the coin toss. The reason why it was an interesting call, as Dambulla has always been known as one of the best venues to chase upon during the evening time, and batting during day time is always tough even on a beautiful battinmg surface.

Indian openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave a decent start to the side but India Women failed to have 50-run partnership tonight, as wickets kept falling in intervals, and after short cameos from Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh, alongside Smriti Mandhana's 60, India Women managed to score 165/6 at the end of their innings.

Sri Lanka Women had never chased down a target in excess of 160 before in the T20I's, but Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrama had other plans, as they decided to rewrite the history books and slay the giant in the form of India Women. They successfully did so, as the duo notched up impressive half-centuries and Sri Lanka Women chased dwon the target of 166 with 8 balls remaining.
