The cricketing sphere remains divided over the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow in the second Ashes Test at Lord's. While some have lauded Alex Carey for his smart game awareness, others have criticised the way in which Carey and Australia claimed the dismissal despite there being no attempt on the batter's part to take a run. Notably, Bairstow had casually walked out of his crease after leaving a bouncer from Cameron Green to have a word with his batting partner, not realising that the ball was still in play.

The decision was referred to the third umpire where it was deemed out. Ever since the dismissal, the entire spirit of the game debate has come up once again. However, an old video of Bairstow's own views on one of his cheeky stumpings has gone viral on social media. The clip is from a County fixture in which Nottinghamshire's Samit Patel left the ball during a contest against Yorkshire. However, the wicketkeeper collected the ball, waited and dislodged the bails precisely when the batter had his foot in the air.

"It is just one of those things that is within the rules of the game and that is how it is," Bairstow said when the sports broadcaster in the video asks him his view on the stumping

Meanwhile, as a result of Australia's 43-run win over England at Lord's, they have taken a 2-0 lead in the series. The third Test match of the five-game series will commence at Headingly in Leeds on July 6. With the series on the line for England, Ben Stokes & Co. would be desperate for a win while Australia will look to continue their dominance in the series heading into the third Test.
