West Indian captain Carlos Brathwaite won the toss and asked India to bat first in the 2nd T20I at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow which is hosting its first international match on Tuesday.
A fit-again Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who missed the first T20I at Kolkata because of a gastronomic problem was brought back into the side in place of Umesh Yadav.
1-0 up in the series, India would look to seal the series in the city of Nawab’s, where men’s international is returning after 24 years.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma too sounded excited about the prospect of playing at a new venue. “First men's international match happening at this ground. There is grass on the pitch so I am guessing pitch will hold up. But I am not sure about the outfield as there is lot of dew expected around 7.30,” said Rohit.
West Indies too have made one change. Wicket-keeper batsman Nicolas Pooran replaced Rovman Powell and in all probability will open the batting when their turn comes later in the evening.
“This is a new stadium, first international game and we want to chase. Dew factor is also one of the reasons but it's more about the pitch. We have one change in the team,” said West Indian captain Carlos Brathwaite.
