West Indies’ cricketing legend, Sir Vivian Richards has been roped in by the Cricket West Indies (CWI) as the brand ambassador of the upcoming ICC Women’s World T20. The iconic former cricketer is now the fourth person to become a CWI ambassador along with Shivnarine Chandrapaul, Sir Andy Roberts and 2016 WT20 winning skipper Darren Sammy.

Being ecstatic on his inclusion, Richards said, “I’m truly honoured to be an Ambassador and play my part in supporting the woman’s game. This is a huge event to have come to our shores. I’m doing this on behalf of Antigua & Barbuda and Cricket West Indies and all other stakeholders.”

The former skipper is pretty confident about the women’s team of West Indies which is getting into a big ICC tournament. He said, “I really like the way our team is looking. We have the power of Deandra Dottin, the class of Hayley Matthews along with some other excellent players. I believe they can win it again for us. Our girls are on the top of the game and doing great things.”

The West Indies women’s team won the 2016 edition of the World T20 held in India after which the men’s team too went to to win the title after thrashing England in India. This year, the mega event begins from November 9 and the matches will be played in Antigua, Guyana and St Lucia.

The final will be played on November 24.
