New Delhi: Surrey all-rounder Will Jacks has been named as the captain of England U-19 team for the five-match one-day series against Indian U-19.

Jacks will lead the side in the absence of regular captain Harry Brook, who has been called up to represent Yorkshire for their County Championship match against Essex.

18-year-old Jacks was rewarded for his swashbuckling century against India U-19 in last week’s four-day match. He scored 102 off 111 balls with 9 boundaries and six sixes. His blistering knock was however not enough to save his side from another crushing defeat by 97 runs. India U-19 won the match and series by 2-0.

Jacks will now have his task cut out to turn the tides in the limited overs against a strong side Indian side, which will be captained by talented Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw.

England have been forced to make a few changes for first two matches due to the County season. Regular captain Brook and all-rounder Matt Potts will join the squad for the last three fixtures.

The first one-day is at Cardiff on Monday.
