It's a rare sight to see a break in what is otherwise a packed cricketing calendar. India's tour of Sri Lanka ended in August 7 and their next international assignment is scheduled on September 19 with the first of the two-match Test series scheduled to get underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

With nearly a month-long break already between the two matches of the Indian men's cricket team, fans are eagerly waiting for some cricket action. And now it is being learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the India squad for the home series against Bangladesh anytime soon.

A report carried by SportsTak claims that the BCCI could announce India squad for the Bangladesh series next week. The report also suggests that performances in the first round of Duleep Trophy will not have much of an impact in the team selection. While the series will mark the return of Virat Kohli in Test cricket for the first time since January with Rohit Sharma set to lead the team, it is also likely to see the return of Rishabh Pant in the red-ball setup for the first time since his recovery from the injuries sustained in the accident.

Who All Can Get A Chance In India's Squad For Bangladesh Series?

The India squad is not likely to see massive changes. The likes of Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel could be in the Test scheme of things while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are all but set to get a chance in not only the Tests but also the T20I squad. In addition, Ravindra Jadeja is most likely to be in action for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2024 along with Jasprit Bumrah who too was rested from the Sri Lanka tour.

It will be interesting to see whether Kuldeep Yadav gets a chance in the Tests but on turning tracks in India, he can be added as an optio. Will that mean a chance for Axar Patel too? Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar will be in the reckoning for Tests with the Hyderabad pacer also in consideration for T20Is.
