New Delhi: West Indies won the toss and chose to field first in first of the five ODI series in Port of Spain.
Left –arm chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been given his ODI cap. He replaces Jadeja in the playing XI. Paceman Umesh Yadav has made a comeback into the playing XI in place of Bumrah, who is not in the series due to fatigue.
“We would have batted first in any case. The wicket is going to slow down and once the moisture dries off, it should be a good track to bat on. It’s my debuted as a captain in the Caribbean, it's been a learning experience. I always loves to come here as it has a very relaxed environment,” says Virat Kohli at toss time.
West Indies have gone in with an unchanged squad that played out a 1-1 draw against Afghanistan.
“There is some moisture early on and hopes they can pick up some early wickets. The surface won't change much throughout the game. We have plans for the series and hope that we can execute the plans well.” Says West Indies captain Jason Holder.
