India's qualification in the World Test Championship final was confirmed after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in the first Test matches. The Black Caps' victory meant that even despite the Men in Blue playing out a draw against Australia, they will now lock horns against the same opposition at The Oval in London with the summit clash starting on June 7.

After the match, India captain Rohit Sharma spoke shared his thoughts on the WTC final and said that the a win the titular contest in the United Kingdom would be important for the team based on what they have managed to achieve during the 2021-23 cycle of the Championship.

Rohit also said that India will be sending duke balls to fast bowlers so that they can start their preparations for that match well in advance.

"..I believe in preparation and preparations will be key for us come the finals. Around 21st May, there will be six teams who will possibly be out of IPL playoffs contention and so whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to the UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible," Rohit said at the presser after the Ahmedabad Test.

"I think it's quite critical for us, we're going to keep in constant touch with all players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what's happening with them," the 35-year-old added.

"In fact, we are sending some Dukes Balls to all fast bowlers and see if they get some time to bowl with that, but again it all depends on individuals, guys who will be part of finals are not the guys who have not played in UK and may be one or two guys here and there and rest all of us have played in that part of the world," India's opening batter said.

Rohit will miss the ODI series opener against Australia but will return for the next two One-Day matches.
