Cricket can be a funny sport sometimes. While even the best of shots and the best of deliveries might not end up getting the desired results, on other occasions, the ball which deserve punishment might also dismiss the batters. The sport acts as a great level-playing field. Even the mightiest of the sport can appear silly, such is the nature of the game.

And now an old video has resurfaced on social media which is definitely a contender to be one of the poorest balls that produced a wicket. The incident happened during a National T20 cup match in 2019 when Mohammad Ilyas delivered a ball that was way down the leg side and a clear wide ball had the batter left it alone. However, left-handed batter Zain Abbas tried to go play a cheeky stroke on it and ended up top-edging the ball, resulting in an easy catch for wicketkeeper.

After the video resurfaced on social media, New Zealand cricketer James Neesham was also among the one watched it and termed it one of the worst balls in cricket history to get a wicket.

Here is his tweet:

Neesham, who has played 12 IPL matches in his career and scored 61 runs, apart from scalping 8 wickets will not be featuring in the coming edition of the tournament. The Kiwi all-rounder had registered himself for a base price of INR 2 crore at the IPL 2022 Auction but couldn't attract a bid with his returns with the bat or ball in the tournament not very encouraging. The left-handed batter and right-arm medium fast bowler has represented Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in the past.

IPL 2023 is all set to commence on March 31 (Friday) with the first match set to be played between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
