Kolkata: India beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on January 12 (Thursday). Their victory ensured that the Men in Blue clinched yet another bilateral series with a match to go after having already won the series opener in Guwahati by 67 runs. Kuldeep Yadav, who got a game in place of Yuzvendra Chahal, was the Player of the Match as he scalped 3 wickets for 51 runs and put India back in the match after the visitors looked set for a 300 plus total after opting to bat first.

Later, even though India did lose a couple more wickets than they would have liked, KL Rahul's calm and calculated presence in the middle ensured that they got over the line, chasing 216. Rahul top-scored for India with an unbeaten 64 off 103 balls but it was fitting that Kuldeep got the opportunity to score the winning run.

Ishan Kishan could not find a place in the team once again and Virat Kohli couldn't complete a hat-trick of centuries but it was their dance moves at the Eden Gardens post the game that soon became the talk of the town. The video of the same has even gone viral on social media.

Games like these teach you a lot: Rohit Sharma

At the post-match presentation, captain Rohit Sharma said that it was one of those games where there was plenty to learn from.

"It was a close game but games like these teach you a lot. We had to build an innings under pressure. KL has been batting at five for a long period of time now and it gives us the depth. Gives you the confidence as well at the top of the order for us to go and bat freely," he said.

"It was a good display of batsmanship. It'll be nice to have a left-hander, but I don't believe too much into it. Ideally we would like to have a left-hander, but we know the quality of the right-handers who are out there in the middle. They can tackle situations when put under pressure," he added.

On making changes in the final ODI with the series sealed, the Indian opener said that a final call in that regard will be taken after having a look at the pitch. He, however, said with a long season ahead the priority will be to keep the players fresh.

The third ODI against Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played on January 15 at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
