Speedster Umesh Yadav is currently on his dream outing for India in red-ball cricket. In the ongoing second Test against West Indies in Hyderabad, he ended up picking up 6 wickets off 88 runs in the first innings which turned out to be his best bowling figures in whites. Though he missed a hat-trick chance in the second innings, he left no stone unturned to jolt the West Indies top-order, that too, in the very next ball.

Back in the first innings, he picked up the last two wickets consecutively to bowl out West Indies for 311. Had he taken another wicket in the first ball of the 2nd innings, he would have become the third Indian bowler – after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan – to claim a hat-trick in Test cricket. Unfortunately, he missed the chance but got the success in the very next delivery.

The incident happened in the 1st over of the third innings when opener Kraig Brathwaite had the strike. Umesh bowled a loosener down the leg side and Brathwaite got a feather on his leg-glance. Pant dived to his left to pull off a fine catch.

Here’s the video:

Umesh delivered a wicket maiden and plucked the seventh wicket in the game. Braithwaite, who captained West Indies in Rajkot, had to return on a 2-ball duck.
