New Delhi: Gujarat Lions defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets as Suresh Raina managed hold his nerves to guide the visitors home with a brilliant knock of 84 runs off just 46 deliveries.
However, it was not Suresh Raina who made the headline, Kolkata Knight Riders ‘opener’ Sunil Narine stole all the limelight as quick fired 42 runs, dealing only in boundaries.
The off-spinner, who has now turned out to be a strong opening option for KKR, did not disappoint his home crowd as he gave a flying start to the two time champions.
Narine scored 42 runs – all of those in boundaries (9 fours and a six), the highest ever in the history of IPL.
Narine put on a 45 run opening stand with Gautam Gambhir, scoring 42 of those runs in just 17 balls.
