New Delhi: In the last decade, the Australian cricket team's lynchpin batsman Steven Smith has emerged as one of the most dependable and effective batsmen. The highly unorthodox but effective Smith is considered as one of the modern-day stalwarts in international cricket.

As Australia's batting mainstay, Smith, celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday, Cricket Australia took to social media to post the former captain's 'finest catches' video.

"Happy birthday Smudge! To celebrate his 31st birthday, have a look back at some of the finest catches. @stevesmith49 has taken in his career in Australia.": Cricket Australia wrote on Twitter.

Steve Smith is undoubtedly one of Australia's finest fielders and has claimed a total of 205 catches in ODIs and 117 catches from 73 Test matches in 237 international games.

ICC shared Smith's batting stats to wish him on his birthday.

Recently, Aussie legendary paceman Brett Lee stated that Steve Smith could go onto become as good as the legendary batsman Don Bradman.

"At the moment I would choose Smith over Kohli because of what he has been through and what he has to overcome, they are two great players, I think Smith can be as good as Don Bradman, there have been talks of him becoming just like Bradman looking at the numbers," Lee said.
