New Delhi: If the Gujarat Lions star and former New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum had been wearing a cap rather than a hat, he would have had Royal Challengers Bangalore masterblaster Chris Gayle caught on the boundary line.
Chris Gayle had made 38 runs off 18 balls when he swiped a Ravindra Jadeja full toss towards the boundary.
The ball was heading for a six but Brendon McCullum intervened to pull off what appeared to be a remarkable catch.
It seemed he had just pulled in time and Gayle was given out, but the powerful West Indian was told to stay on the field who wanted to check whether McCullum had stayed within the field of play.
McCullum had managed to keep his body within the boundary but unfortunately, his hat touched the rope and the catch did not stand.
Chris Gayle added more salt to the wound as went on to score 77 of 38 deliveries.
