Continuing his sublime form, opener KL Rahul yet again justified his selection in the playing XI against Australia in the 2nd T20I on Wednesday. Opening the innings with Shikhar Dhawan this time, the Karnataka batsman provided a promising start to India against an unchanged Australian side. Though he missed out on his second consecutive half-century, he surely set the stage on fire before returning to the dressing room.
While Dhawan played a slow knock, Rahul slammed the cricket ball towards every corner of his home ground – M Chinnaswamy stadium. And then came the 5th over when the local boy entertained the crowd against Jhye Richardson’s bowling.
Rahul slammed two consecutive sixes on the fourth and fifth delivery over the deep fine leg and cover respectively.

The Indian opener seemed to be enjoying his outing and made sure the damage done by him should be more intense with every ball of the match. Thus, he repeated the same hammering in the next over and ruined Pat Cummin’s economy.

With Rahul’s colourful fireworks, India managed to score 53 runs in the mandatory powerplay. Rahul continued slamming the Aussie attack for the next couple of deliveries. But unfortunately, before he could raise his bat to celebrate his 2nd fifty on the trot, he fell prey to Nathan Coulter-Nile in the 8th over on 47.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. While the visitors fielded an unchanged playing XI, India made three changes for the match – Dhawan in place of Rohit Sharma, Vijay Shankar and Siddharth Kaul replacing Mayank Markande and Umesh Yadav respectively.
