New Zealand levelled the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka by winning the second match of the bilateral contest by 9 wickets after losing the series opener in the Super Over. It was a comprehensive win by the home team who won by 9 wickets and 32 balls to spare which shows the kind of dominance they were able to exert in this match.
One particular incident that has captured the attention of the fans is the ball from Kiwi pacer Adam Milne which broke Sri Lanka batter Pathum Nissanka's bat into two. While the bat being broken on impact with the ball is itself a rare sight, Milne's delivery actually broke into two which has left fans stunned.
The video of it has also surfaced on social media. Take a look:
Talking about the contest, everything right from the toss went New Zealand's way. The Black Caps won the toss and opted to bowl first. They then managed to bowl the visitors out for 141 with Milne spearheading their pace attack and ending with a five-wicket haul, conceding just 26 runs in his 4 overs. He picked up the wickets of Nissanka, Kusal Perera, Asalanka, Pramod Madushan and Dilshan Madushanka and did not let the opposition get a move on at any stage of their innings. Ben Lister, Rachin Ravindra, Henry Shipley and James Neesham were the other wicket-takers.
In the run chase, New Zealand did not have any trouble whatsoever and Tim Seifert (79 off 43) and captain Tom Latham (20 off 30) remained unbeaten in the end to ensure an easy win for the hosts. Chad Bowes (31 from 15) was the only wicket that they lost with Kasun Rajitha getting that breakthrough for Sri Lanka.
The final T20I of the series will be played at the John Davies Oval, Queenstown on Saturday.
