The 2nd Test at Perth witnessed India succumbing to a humiliating 146-run loss to Australia. But what most of the people missed watching on their television screens was the verbal spat between Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja which occurred on the fourth day at Perth Optus Stadium. While the incident wasn’t shown on the Indian screens, the official broadcasters of the Test series Down Under did not miss the opportunity to capture the moment on camera.

What actually happened?

Ishant and Jadeja could be seen pointing fingers at each other during a brief break in between overs. Gradually, the discussion heated up and both came face-to-face along the wicket before they were separated by teammates Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.

There is no solid explanation as to what led to the rift between Ishant and Jadeja, however, it seems that the former was not happy with the latter's fielding position.

Former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting pointed out that things got a bit heated up between these two Indian players. While commentating, he said, “Who knows what they're talking about, it does seem very animated, there's lots of finger pointing. Things have obviously got a little bit heated up.”

This is not the first time Jadeja got involved in an on-field verbal spat. He had engaged in a similar altercation with Suresh Raina in 2013 during an ODI match against West Indies.
