This was, in the process, Ireland's highest successful chase in T20I's as they managed to chase down a target of 170 on the last ball of the innings.
England's 169/8 at the end of their innings were not enough to seal the series victory, as the resilient hosts fought back and were paid dividends for their effort in the form of a historic win.
Orla Pendergast was awarded the Player of the Match for her scintillating knock of 80 off 51 balls, which included 13 fours, as this is now her highest T20I score.
"It was about to build the innings. I settled myself in the middle and got the start I was looking for. We were trying to have fun and play freely. We batted well to convert the 1s to 2s and 2s to 3s. We did lose the game yesterday and it was some motivation to win this game. I look to be consistent as possible. Thankfully, we have a few weeks off (on her hand injury). It should be fine," said Orla Pendergast.
Here's What The Two Captains Said During The Post-Match Presentation Ceremony
Kate Cross (England Women Skipper):
"It was a brilliant game of cricket. An unfortunate incident happened but Mady did a brilliant job throughout. We came here with an inexperienced team but they showed a lot of character to step up. We had a great tour so far. I have really enjoyed my captaincy duty. This has been a very enjoyable week."
Gaby Lewis (Ireland Women Skipper):
"Girls have shown immense maturity in this game. Appreciation goes to Orla Prendergast, she is a world class cricketer. This is a game of cricket. You can win and you can lose. This has been a brilliant chase from the team. We are going to Bangladesh in November for another series. We have a few days off now."
