In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, Team India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja earned his first 'Fielder of the Match' medal after India's convincing 47-run win over Afghanistan. Jadeja was outstanding in fielding as the veteran completed three crucial catches in IND vs AFG Super 8 match, dismissing Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Nabi, and captain Rashid Khan.


Jadeja was overjoyed when he received the medal from Rahul Dravid, lifting the Indian head coach before sharing a heartfelt hug with him. For those unfamiliar, Dravid earned the nickname "The Wall" due to his ability to bat for long periods with immense patience and determination, often frustrating opposition bowlers.

India kickstarts T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 campaign with 47-run win over Afghanistan


Rohit Sharma-led India began Super-8 stage of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with a big win in Barbados. Top spells from fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh helped India bowl out Afghanistan for 134 runs, securing a 47-run win.


After opting to bat first, India faced early setbacks with cheap dismissals of openers Rohit Sharma (8) and Virat Kohli (24). Rishabh Pant departed after contributing 20 runs off 11 balls. The middle order took charge with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya leading the way.


Suryakumar Yadav played a vital innings, scoring 53 runs off 28 balls with help of 5 fours and 3 sixes and Pandya contributed with 32 runs off 24 balls to take India's total to 181/8 in 20 overs. Chasing 182 for the win, Afghanistan faced a batting collapse and were bowled out for 134.
