Mumbai star batsman Prithvi Shaw, who was playing his first match after completing his eight-month suspension, smashed 63 runs off 39 balls against Assam in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy match at Wankhede stadium on Sunday.

The young opening batsman was banned by the BCCI for inadvertently ingesting a prohibited substance, which might be generally present in cough syrups.

Thanks to Shaw’s knock, Mumbai, batting first, managed to score 206/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, Assam bundled up for 123/8 as Mumbai bagged four crucial points from their last group stage fixture.

In the match, Shaw came up with ‘letting the bat do the talking’ gesture to celebrate his fifty. However, Shaw’s gesture didn’t down too well with the fans as they brutally trolled the Mumbai-lad for his “over confident gesture” in his comeback game.

BCCI posted Shaw’s video on their official twitter handle in which he can be seen celebrating his half-century. Here’s the video…

Shaw had earlier shared a video of himself practising in the nets.

"I turn 20 today. I assure it will be Prithvi Shaw 2.0 going forward. Thank u for all the good wishes & support. Will be back in action soon," Shaw captioned the video.
