New Delhi: Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was at his brutal best as he helped the host secure a much needed win in the do-or-die encounter at Maharshtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune.

Bhuvneshwar, who has established himself at the top of Indian bowling set up in the limted-over format, grabbed three-crucial wickets to dismantle the visitors in the initials overs of the game.

Kiwi openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro were his first two victims but it was the third wicket which grabbed the headlines.

Half of the New Zealand was back in the hut with just 118 runs in the 30th over and Nicholls partnered with Grandhomme in an attempt to take the visitors to safety but Indian skipper Virat Kohli wanted to wrap the innings early and brought his most trusted weapon (Bhuvneshwar) into the attack. The right-arm bowler wasted no-time as he sent Nicholls’ stump flying in the air on the fifth ball of his second spell.
