India’s premier bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc with the ball as both of them scalped wickets on the first balls of their respective overs in the ongoing World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. Bumrah picked up the wicket of opener batter Pathum Nissanka with a screamer on the first ball of the Sri Lankan innings. After batting first, the Indian team posted a huge total of 357 runs, kudos to Shubman Gill (92), Virat Kohli (88), and Shreyas Iyer (82).
While defending the total, the Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah bowled the perfect outswinger which rattled Nissanka, who completely failed to decode the line and was caught LBW. Post this blow, Bumrah just conceded two runs as the Lankans were pushed on the back foot.
The second over of the innings witnessed Mohammed Siraj take the ball and clean up Dimuth Karunaratne. Siraj delivered a stunning inswinger to Karunaratne and the umpire immediately raised his finger. Siraj continued his assault as he also scalped the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis.
Sri Lankan batters have been losing wickets at regular intervals and they are currently reeling at six wickets down. The Indian team did not make any changes to their playing XI coming to play this game while Sri Lanka came up with as they roped in leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha in place of Dhananjaya de Silva.
