India's star opener Shubman Gill regained his form in Mumbai during the match against Sri Lanka as he scored his 11th ODI fifty on Thursday. The opening batter ended up making 92 runs before getting dismissed. The Punjabi-based batter was down with dengue just ahead of the World Cup 2023 and as a result, he missed out on playing the first two games against Australia and Afghanistan.

During the game against the Island nation, Gill ensured his terrific run with his willow, smashing the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the park. Fans were elated to see Gill's brilliant batting but then he could not reach the three figures mark. However, Sachin Tendulkar's daughter, Sara was spotted giving a standing ovation to Gill even though he missed out on scoring a hundred. Seeing this, social media went berserk as users' reactions came in abundance.

After recovering from dengue, Gill managed to make a comeback in the game against Pakistan but then he could not make it big with the bat. In the four matches he played since his comeback, he collected only 104 runs at an average of 26.00 before the game against Sri Lanka. Earlier, after coming to bat first, the Indian team suffered a huge blow when skipper Rohit Sharma departed after scoring just four runs. Gill was then joined by the former India skipper Virat Kohli and went on to add 60 runs in the first powerplay. Gill reached his fifty in 55 balls with the help of eight fours.
