Virat Kohli T20I Records & Stats: Virat Kohli announced retirement from T20Is after India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final on June 29 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Virat Kohli had been having a dismal T20 World Cup campaign as the batter struggled with form but he came back in form when it mattered the most– the final. Kohli played the role of an anchor throughout India’s batting innings and helped the team to post a competitive total.


Despite a poor run of form throughout the tournament, the Indian cricket legend saved his best for the final, scoring a half-century in the decisive match. Kohli concluded with an impressive 76 off 59 balls, helping India post a total of 176 runs on the board.

- 4188 Runs: Kohli has amassed 4188 runs in T20Is, the second-most by any player, only behind Rohit Sharma's 4231 runs. Notably, Kohli achieved this in 34 fewer innings than Rohit. Both Kohli and Rohit, who retired from the format on June 29, are the only players to have scored 4000+ runs in all three international formats.


- 48.69 Average: Kohli's average of 48.69 in T20Is is the second-highest for any player, just behind Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan (48.72).


- Player of the Match Awards: Kohli has won 16 Player of the Match awards in T20Is, the most by any player, one ahead of Suryakumar Yadav. He also holds the record for being Player of the Series six times, including twice in T20 World Cups (2014, 2016).


- 1292 Runs T20 World Cup History: Kohli has scored 1292 runs in T20 World Cup history, the highest by any player. He was the leading run-scorer in the 2014 edition with 319 runs, the most by any player in a single tournament edition. He also topped the charts in the 2022 edition with 296 runs


- Highest Average: Kohli's average of 58.72 in T20 World Cups is the highest among the 34 players who have scored 500+ runs in the tournament. He has 15 scores of 50+ in 33 innings, three more than the next best (12 by Rohit Sharma).


- Player of the Match Awards In World Cup History: Kohli has won 8 Player of the Match awards in the T20 World Cup history, three more than the next best of five (held by Mahela Jayawardene, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and Adam Zampa). 


- Player of the Tournament Award: He is also the only player to have won the Player of the Tournament award twice. He won it in the 2014 and 2016 editions.
