New Delhi: India’s ace batter Virat Kohli smashed his 44th ODI century in the third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday. He whacked 11 boundaries and two huge sixes in order to get his century.
Kohli got the century after three years long drought. The last time he scored a century in ODI was back in 2019 against West Indies. The former India skipper also reached his 72nd international century and crossed Australian legend Ricky Ponting, who has 71 centuries in his kitty.
The Delhi-based batter also completed 1000 ODI runs in Bangladesh and became the second player after Shane Watson to get to 1000 ODI runs. He also forged 290 runs stand for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan who scripted history after he scored a double century and the fastest to achieve the feat.
Ishan hit 200 runs in just 126 balls, breaking Chris Gayle's record of scoring a double ton in 138 balls. With this knock, the young Indian batsman becomes the seventh person in the world to achieve the feat and fourth from India after Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Virender Sehwag.
